KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged the public to leave it entirely to the authorities to conduct an investigation into the issue of religious provocation.
He is confident that the truth will be fully and transparently uncovered through the ongoing investigation.
"The MADANI government will ensure that justice is upheld and national peace is maintained," he said in a Facebook post today.
Previously, Anwar stressed that the accusation that the government did not take action regarding the incident of stepping on the Quran is baseless.
According to the Prime Minister, the authorities are conducting a thorough investigation in accordance with the law in force.
On Feb 25, a Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) student was detained to assist in the investigation on suspicion of insulting Islam on social media and as of yesterday, 28 police reports had been received nationwide regarding the case.
