GUA MUSANG, March 1 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Air Unit conducted a medical evacuation (medevac) flight for an Orang Asli man from Kampung Dakoh, Pos Balar, here yesterday.
Senior Assistant Fire Superintendent Amir Fitri Salim said the victim, Geragup Merom, 59, who suffered swelling and a broken leg that left him immobile, was evacuated using an MI-17-IV aircraft accompanied by a companion.
He said the patient had to be carried on a stretcher before being boarded onto the aircraft due to his inability to move.
“The operation was assisted by personnel from the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) and the Ministry of Health (MOH). The patient was transported to the Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station before being handed over to MOH staff for further treatment at the Gua Musang Hospital,” he said.
The operation was carried out to ensure the victim received immediate medical treatment.
