KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- Police arrested four foreign men and one local woman last Wednesday for suspected involvement in an Immigration stamp forgery syndicate.
Gombak District Police Chief ACP Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said the arrests were made at 12:25 pm by a police team from the Commercial Crime Investigation Division of the Gombak District Police Headquarters (IPD).
"In the first raid at an apartment in Gombak, Selangor, a 27-year-old foreign man was detained, and following further inspection, police successfully found items suspected of being used to forge Immigration stamps," he said in a statement tonight.
Noor Ariffin said following that arrest, his team detained three more foreign men, aged between 39 and 47, and a 47-year-old local woman around Shah Alam.
He added that all suspects have been remanded until Oct 8 and the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code (Cheating).
"Members of the public with information regarding the incident are requested to come forward to assist the investigation and can contact the commercial crime investigating officer, Inspector Fadzrul Akmal Zulkarnain, at 010-205 7600 or the Gombak IPD Operations Room at 03-6126 2222," he said.
