SIBU, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- The police have appealed to those with missing relatives or friends to identify the body of a man found floating in the Rajang River, Kapit, today.
Kapit Police chief DSP Rohana Nanu said a member of the public alerted police to the discovery of a floating body at 11.25 am near Wharf Kapit.
“However, by the time police arrived, the body was believed to have been swept away by strong currents before being recovered by the Fire and Rescue Department and the Civil Defence Force (APM) at Teluk Selindung at 12.10 pm, about five kilometres from Wharf Kapit.
“The body was sent to Kapit Hospital for further action,” she told Bernama.
Rohana said the deceased was about 170 centimetres tall, had light brown skin and was believed to be in his 40s.
“The man had a koi fish tattoo on the front of the right thigh and two ‘terung Iban’ (sour eggplant) tattoos on the front of both shoulders,” she said.
