TH Launches ‘Cilik-Cilik Dah Celik’ To Encourage Financial Discipline Among Depositors

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- The Pilgrims Fund Board (TH) today launched the ‘Cilik-Cilik Dah Celik’ Financial Literacy Programme to help depositors strengthen their financial knowledge and build savings for performing the Haj.

Its Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mustakim Mohamad in a statement said, the programme, organised in collaboration with the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK), targets about 100 young families from the Klang Valley, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan under a pilot project.

He said the initiative aims to cultivate positive financial habits and nurture a financially literate generation ready to achieve their dream of performing the fifth pillar of Islam.

“Currently, 53 per cent of TH depositors have savings of less than RM1,300, while about half of the prospective pilgrims for the 1446H/2025M season declined their pilgrimage offer due to insufficient savings.

“This shows the need for TH to educate the Muslim community, especially depositors, on financial management and to encourage consistent saving practices towards fulfilling their Haj aspirations,” he said.

TH said the ‘Cilik-Cilik Dah Celik’ programme features six financial literacy modules covering mindset transformation, financial planning, cash flow management, wealth creation, protection against financial scams, and debt management.

“Throughout the six-month programme, parents will receive continuous guidance through financial education workshops, simulation exercises, online learning, gamified activities, and regular monitoring of their children’s savings.

“As an incentive, participants will be eligible for monthly rewards and grand prizes based on their commitment, consistency and savings achievements,” it added.

TH said young parents with school-going children were chosen as the target group as they are in a crucial phase of shaping their families’ financial habits.

“Children often follow their parents’ example, while young parents are managing key commitments such as education, housing and living costs. By guiding this group early, TH can help them manage their finances better and nurture a financially aware generation,” read the statement.

Programme participant Nurul Alieya Jusoh, who joined with her husband and children, said she was excited to learn more disciplined financial management skills.

“I hope my children will learn to save from a young age so that we can be better prepared to perform the Haj one day,” she said.

In line with the digital era, TH said the programme also focuses on financial fraud prevention, teaching participants how to identify scams, protect personal data and report fraud attempts to the authorities.
