KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Foreign Ministry has confirmed the safe arrival of all 23 Malaysian participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) mission in Malaysia, noting that all are in good health.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry, widely known as Wisma Putra, said the group landed safely at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)  at 9.50 pm (Malaysian time).

Upon their arrival, the participants were warmly received by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, representing the Prime Minister, together with Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

Also present were Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, Deputy Foreign Minister Mohamad Alamin, and senior government officials.

“Malaysia once again expresses its deepest appreciation to the Government of Turkiye for its pivotal facilitation and support in ensuring the swift and safe return of the detained Malaysians,” said Wisma Putra.

The Ministry also extended its gratitude to the Governments of Jordan, Egypt, the United States, and ASEAN countries with a presence in Tel Aviv for their valuable assistance in ensuring the safe return of all the citizens.

“The Embassy of Malaysia in Ankara, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Istanbul, and the Consulate General of Malaysia in Dubai also played an important role in assisting the return process and ensuring the well-being of the Malaysian participants throughout their transit and repatriation arrangements,” it said.

The Ministry said it is also closely monitoring another flotilla under the banner of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) and Thousand Madleens to Gaza, which is currently en route to Gaza carrying nine Malaysian activists.

The mission seeks to challenge the illegal blockade and deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, it said.

According to Wisma Putra, all Malaysian diplomatic missions in the region have been placed on full alert and instructed to maintain close monitoring of this mission.

“Necessary measures are being prepared to address any eventuality, including the possibility of detention by the Israeli regime.

“Malaysia will continue to work closely with partner countries to ensure that the safety and rights of its citizens are protected at all times,” it said.
