BALING, Sept 6 (Bernama) -- The Kedah government has expressed its gratitude for the federal government’s on-going efforts in supporting development in the state.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation between the state and federal governments in the future.
“I would like to extend my thanks to the Prime Minister and the federal government for their continued support in driving Kedah’s development. I look forward to strengthening this partnership further,” he said.
He emphasised that the collaboration between the state and federal governments is vital for sustainable development in Kedah, enabling the state to make a more meaningful contribution to the nation’s progress.
“The sustainable development efforts through strong cooperation between the federal and state governments will help Kedah contribute more effectively to the country’s development,” he said at the closing of the Kedah 2025 MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR), officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim here today.
Muhammad Sanusi also spoke about Kedah’s plans to attract more tourists, particularly with the upcoming Visit Kedah Year 2025 campaign.
He added that the Kedah 2025 PMR event plays a key role in promoting local tourism, especially in Baling, known for its natural beauty.
“I thank the Prime Minister for choosing Baling, Kedah, to host this year’s PMR event. It has been a successful programme that brings government services closer to the people,” he said.
Muhammad Sanusi also expressed his gratitude to the federal government for its contributions to the development of Kedah's infrastructure and tourism sector.
He highlighted several key projects, including the upgrading of the Passenger, Cargo, and RORO Terminal at Kuala Kedah Jetty, as well as the Northern Peninsula Border Project, which enhances tourism facilities at Mong Gajah Tasik Pedu in Padang Terap.
He also noted the transformation of the Sungai Batu Archaeological Site into a Tourism and Archaeological Complex in Kuala Muda, and the renovation of the Perdana Gallery in Langkawi.
Muhammad Sanusi reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign, expressing readiness to welcome more tourists from both domestic and international markets.
Also present at the event were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
