DBP ORGANISES FUNDRAISING PROGRAMME FOR PALESTINE
KUALA LUMPUR -- Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) will hold a virtual ‘Suara Dari Lembah Gaza’ (SDLG) programme for the purpose of raising funds for Palestine.
In a statement, DBP said the SDLG programme uses poetry as a medium to express support and solidarity in the name of humanity for the Palestinian people's struggle.
The programme, which will involve political figures, and those from the literary and media fields, the general public and others, will be from July 25-31 and broadcast live through DBP's Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts, in addition to DBP's digital platform, JendelaDBP.
The poems produced from the programme will be published by DBP in physical form and e-publication where the sales proceeds will go into the Musa'adah Fund in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).

ANOTHER RM1.63 MLN TO BE ADDED TO TNB PRIHATIN CITIZENS FUND
KUALA LUMPUR -- Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has approved matching grants amounting to RM1.63 million, thus bringing the total TNB Prihatin Citizens Fund (WTP) to RM3.26 million.
TNB chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said it would benefit more vulnerable groups affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Alhamdulillah, a total of RM1.63 million was collected voluntarily previously, so as a stimulus to this noble effort, the board of directors unanimously agreed to double the total collection to bring the total fund to RM3.26 million," he said in a statement today.
The WTP Fund was launched in June where contributions were collected from TNB employees voluntarily through monthly salary deductions in June and July.

PIKAS: VACCINATION IN N.SEMBILAN WILL BE INCREASED BY 3,000 DOSES DAILY
SEREMBAN -- The daily COVID-19 vaccination rate for industrial workers in Negeri Sembilan will be increased to 3,000 doses, compared to 1,500 currently.
Negeri Sembilan Investment, Industrial, Entrepreneurship, Education and Human Capital Action Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek said the move was taken to ensure the industrial sector in the state was free from the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The assessment is being made by the Health Ministry and International Trade and Industry Ministry to speed up the vaccination process of industrial workers under the Public-Private Partnership COVID-19 Industry Immunisation Programme," he told reporters at the outreach vaccination centre at Dewan Besar Gadong Lalang, Ampangan today.

COVID: LARGEST EGG-PRODUCER IN MELAKA ORDERED TO CLOSE AS WORKERS TEST POSITIVE
MELAKA -- The largest egg-producing factory in Melaka has been ordered to close for 14 days from yesterday until Aug 6 due to the spread of COVID-19 infection among workers.
State Health and Anti-Drug Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman said so far, 20 factory workers in Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah had tested positive for COVID-19 out of 119 workers who had undergone screening.
"The cause of the infection is still under investigation and the Health Ministry is actively tracking close contacts so that the spread of the virus can be curbed immediately," he said in a statement.

'MALAM PUISI GETARAN JIWA P. RAMLEE' TO BE AIRED LIVE TOMORROW
KUALA LUMPUR -- ‘Malam Puisi Getaran Jiwa P. Ramlee’ will held virtually tomorrow to raise the level of the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee's artistry as the country's legendary poet through dialogue in films and verses in lyrics in his songs.
The programme is organised by the National Poets Association (PEMUISI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) and the Film Directors' Association of Malaysia (FDAM).
In a statement, PEMUISI president Datuk Dr Radzuan Ibrahim said the event will be broadcast live on the DBP, PEMUISI BERKARYA and FDAM Facebook pages at 9 pm.
