SEPANG, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) mission carrying humanitarian supplies and international activists to assist the people of Gaza has successfully entered the R3 Red Zone, marking its distance to the Gaza shoreline at about 100 nautical miles.
Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) director-general Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby said the first vessel, Seulle, entered the red zone at about 9.20 pm (Malaysian time).
He said that barring any obstacles, the GSF mission would enter the R2 Red Zone tomorrow (Oct 2) at 4.08 am (Malaysian time) or 11.08 pm Gaza time.
“We at SNCC will continue to closely monitor the progress of these vessels. We are in constant communication with them around the clock, and we will also do our utmost to provide moral support to those on board.
“However, they are currently in training and preparation phases, and we do not allow them to engage extensively with the outside world, as it may cause some disruptions.
“So we pray that these are phases that will, God willing, end in victory. Whatever the trials, we urge Malaysians to continue praying,” he told the media here today.
He said that if there were no obstacles such as wind direction and vessel speed, the GSF mission was expected to reach the Gaza shoreline tomorrow (Oct 2) at 6.32 pm (Malaysian time) or 1.32 pm Gaza time.
