PETALING JAYA, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- The participation of celebrities, leaders and young athletes in the Selangor-level MADANI Cup 2025 held here is expected to promote sports as a recreational activity while uniting people from all walks of life.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim said the inclusive participation involving football and e-sports in the Selangor MADANI Cup 2025 was in line with the youth’s interests, while also allowing them to showcase their talents.

“We hope to make sports a way of life for society, not only through major tournaments but also at the community level.

“This approach can foster a sense of togetherness in strengthening the spirit of Malaysia MADANI through sports platforms,” he told reporters after presenting prizes to the winners of the MADANI Cup 2025 Football Tournament at Padang Astaka tonight.

The two-day tournament, which began on Sept 13, was organised by the Anwar Ibrahim Club (AIC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), the Selangor government, Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) and the Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) Foundation.

Meanwhile, AIC information officer Jestin Raj said the tournament focused on encouraging youth involvement in sports and community activities.

“This is AIC’s first large-scale programme, and we plan to expand similar initiatives to other states such as Perak, particularly in Tambun, in the near future.

“AIC has previously organised more community-based and social aid programmes, but this time we are introducing a new approach that is more comprehensive and involves wider participation,” he told Bernama.

The tournament concluded tonight with a friendly match as the highlight, where Mak Jemah FC, featuring local celebrities, defeated AIC’s team, represented by Adli, with a score of 5-2.
