ICU JWCC 2024: MALAYSIA SECURES THIRD PLACE IN USA

KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Youth All Girls cheerleading team achieved a remarkable feat at the International Cheer Union World Junior Cheerleading Championships (ICU JWCC) 2024 after securing third place in the Youth All-Girl Median division against formidable opponents from around the world, yesterday. 

The championship held in Florida, United States (USA) witnessed Canada emerge champions while Mexico came second. 

The Cheerleading Association & Register of Malaysia (CHARM) in a statement today said the achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and exceptional talent of the young athletes, aged 12 - 14 years old as their perseverance and commitment to excellence have not only brought pride to the nation but also showcased the immense potential of Malaysian youth on the global stage. 

“We would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Minister Hannah Yeoh, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education and all the team’s sponsors for their unwavering support throughout the team’s journey.

“CHARM is truly grateful for all their belief in the team and for their commitment to promoting sports excellence in Malaysia. CHARM is also incredibly grateful for the support of its committee volunteers, the team’s coaches, team managers, schools, parents and supporters.

“This achievement was only possible with the contribution and teamwork of every party involved,” the statement read.

It also said that the Malaysian cheerleading team and CHARM will continue to strive to put Malaysia on the world stage in the sport of cheerleading.
