KBS ALLOTS RM50,000 FOR CHEERLEADING SQUAD TO COMPETE IN WORLD MEET

KUALA LUMPUR, April 18 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) presented a total of RM50,000 to the Cheerleading Association and Register of Malaysia (CHARM) to compete in the World Cheerleading Championship 2024 in Orlando, the United States from April 24-29.

The ministry said in a statement today that the incentive, which was approved through the National Sports Trust Fund (KWSAN), was presented by its minister, Hannah Yeoh during a meeting with CHARM at Sekolah Sri Kuala Lumpur.

CHARM also received RM30,000 from the minister’s allocation as support for their activities.

“When youths are involved in sports, they learn about being a team, supporting one another and playing by the rules. Through this, nation-building will take place. Patriotism begins here,” Hannah said in the same statement.

The team comprise 20 athletes aged between 12 and 15, two coaches and a team manager.

The World Cheerleading Championship is set to celebrate its 21st anniversary with the participation of 10,000 athletes from 80 countries gathering under the auspices of the International Cheer Union (ICU).
