KUCHING, April 26 (Bernama) -- Bernama photographer the late Muhamad Razali Nordin, 54, was remembered today by family, colleagues and friends as a cheerful and lively personality who often lifted the spirits of those around him.

His twin brother, Muhamad Raduan Nordin, said despite being twins, the differences in appearance and personality meant many people did not realise they were siblings when they were younger.

“I learned that his health had begun to decline during Ramadan, but before I had the chance to visit him with other family members, he passed away. This loss has deeply affected us.

“After losing our elder brother in February, we have now lost Razali. Only three of us siblings remain out of eight, making this another great loss for our family,” he told reporters after the burial at the Samariang Muslim cemetery here today.

Acting deputy editor-in-chief of Bernama’s Economic News Services Harlina Samson said Razali was generous with his smile and often brightened the atmosphere even while facing pressure on assignment.

“I have known him since the early days of my career. In nearly 30 years with Bernama, he served at the Selangor bureau, twice at the Sarawak bureau and at headquarters.

“We worked together on many assignments, both locally and abroad, and he always showed strong commitment and excellent team spirit,” she said.

Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and Sarawak Public Communications Unit) Datuk Abdullah Saidol said Razali’s contributions in capturing important moments and supporting news delivery were deeply appreciated, especially in Sarawak.

“His dedication as a photographer will continue to be remembered. Although he was not from Sarawak, he made this state his place of service and home for many years,” he said after paying his last respects at Masjid At-Taqwa, Kampung Gita here.

Razali, who was from Batu Gajah, Perak, breathed his last at 1.44 am today at Sarawak General Hospital after suffering from several chronic illnesses, including heart, liver and kidney complications.
