KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 (Bernama) -- The Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) has launched the Malaysia Micro Entrepreneur Forum 2025 (MyMikro'25) as a strategic platform to strengthen the financial resilience and enhance the competitiveness of local entrepreneurs.

In a statement today, AKPK said the launch of MyMikro’25 reinforces the agency’s role as a credit rehabilitation agency and strategic partner to micro-entrepreneurs in building financial resilience and contributing continuously to the nation’s economic growth.

AKPK chief executive officer, Azaddin Ngah Tasir, said that financial literacy is not just the key to survival, but also a catalyst to make micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) more competitive, resilient, and sustainable in the modern economic ecosystem.

“Through the Entrepreneur Development Programme (PPU), AKPK is committed to guiding micro-entrepreneurs with a holistic approach, combining skills, knowledge, and continuous support,” he added.

AKPK has conducted a national-level study involving 920 entrepreneurs to identify areas for improvement, particularly in the financial management of micro-entrepreneurs.

According to AKPK, one of the findings of the study is that 41 per cent of micro-entrepreneurs still have a low level of financial management.

The study also found that four out of 10 micro-entrepreneurs still do not have a business account, which also contributes to cash flow imbalances.

The agency stated that these findings indicate a vast opportunity for targeted interventions to strengthen financial literacy and improve the competitiveness of micro-entrepreneurs in Malaysia.

Held at the Khazanah Auditorium, Asia School of Business (ASB), the MyMikro'25 forum brought together MSME entrepreneurs, credit providers, academics, and other stakeholders to share experiences, discuss issues and challenges, and explore collective solutions to drive the country’s MSME ecosystem forward.
