Bernama Appoints Mohd Shukri Ishak As Acting Deputy Editor-in-chief

KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 (Bernama) -- Pertubuhan Berita Nasional Malaysia (Bernama) today announced the appointment of Mohd Shukri Ishak as its acting deputy editor-in-chief of News Services, effective tomorrow.

Mohd Shukri, 53, succeeds Nasriah Darus, who retires today upon reaching the mandatory retirement age.

He previously held the position of executive editor and acting deputy editor-in-chief of International News Services.

Originally from Kedah, Mohd Shukri has been with the news agency since May 1, 1996, beginning his career as an editorial executive.

A graduate in Communications from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, he has served as Bernama’s Pahang Bureau chief, Foreign Correspondent in Indonesia, executive editor of the Digital Media Desk and head of Broadcasting (TV and Radio).

He also holds several key roles, including secretary-general of the Malaysia-Indonesia Journalists’ Friendship Association (ISWAMI), assistant secretary of Persatuan Wartawan Malaysia, deputy president of the Bernama Staff Club, and sits on Bernama’s Occupational Safety and Health Committee as a management representative.
