KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) launched its first investment product, BSN MyGold Account-i, to provide customers with the opportunity to invest in gold starting from Aug 28, 2023.
Chief executive Jay Khairil said while being Shariah-compliant, the gold investment product is as low as RM10 and backed by 100 per cent physical gold with a purity of 999.9 accredited by the London Bullion Market Association.
“Gold investment is regarded as an alternative investment channel that is stable among investors as it can provide high returns if kept for a long period of time.
“The price (of gold) remains resilient despite the global financial and geopolitical crisis, preserving value when there is inflation as well as easily being liquidated for emergency funds,” he told reporters at the launch of BSN MyGold Account-i here today.
Through the launch of BSN’s first investment product, Jay said customers could make long-term savings with a low amount of investment while strengthening their financial position at the same time.
Meanwhile, chief business officer Mujibburrahman Abd Rashid said BSN is targeting 50,000 customers to open the gold accounts in the first year of the launch.
“BSN MyGold Account-i enables customers to buy and sell gold through the platform without having to keep physical gold.
“This can indirectly encourage customers to save, in line with BSN’s mandate to inculcate the saving habit among Malaysians,” he said.
Online purchases will also be introduced and customers can also visit the 389 BSN branches nationwide for their gold investment.
For BSN MyGold Account-i, BSN is collaborating with ACE Capital Growth Sdn Bhd, which has been involved in gold bullion trading since 2011.
The BSN MyGold Account-i is open to individuals aged 18 years and above with an initial investment as low as RM10, besides being offered to corporate clients with an initial investment of RM500.
