NEW DELHI, April 9 (Bernama) -- Pakistan on Saturday conducted a test of its Shaheen-III ballistic missile with a range of 2,750 kilometers.

"Pakistan today conducted successful flight test of Shaheen-III surface to surface ballistic missile. The test flight was aimed at revalidating various design and technical parameters of the weapon system," the Pakistani military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The launch was witnessed by Strategic Plans Division (SPD) chief Lt Gen Nadeem Zaki Manj, National Engineering and Scientific Commission (Nescom) chairman Raza Samar, Army Strategic Force Command's Lt Gen Muhammad Ali, senior officers and scientists, it said.

Manj congratulated the scientists and engineers "on achieving dynamic design and development capabilities and expressed his full confidence in Pakistan's nuclear deterrence capability," the ISPR said.

President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman General Nadeem Raza and the services chiefs also congratulated the scientists and engineers, it added.

Pakistan possesses a range of missiles capable of striking targets at different ranges.

The medium-range Shaheen-III was first test-fired in March 2015.
