KOTA BHARU, Feb 10 -- Kelantan United FC (KUFC) received a shot in the arm after receiving a sponsorship worth RM150,000 from KDDI Malaysia Sdn Bhd (KDDI Malaysia) to prepare them for the Malaysia League competition (M-League) this season.
KUFC chief operations officer Wan Mohd Zul Ikman Wan Abdul Aziz said KDDI Malaysia, a telecommunication company based in Japan, was keen to sponsor the team after noting KUFC’s cooperation with renowned probiotics company from Japan, Yakult Malaysia which benefitted both parties prior to this.
“The strategic cooperation agreement of the sponsorship worth RM150,000 is for the management of the team to face the M-League next March,” he said at a media conference after a Sponsorship Agreement Signing Ceremony between KUFC and KDDI here, today.
KDDI Malaysia was represented by its managing director, Masaki Matsuura while KUFC was represented by its executive director Anas Karimi Ahmad Thani.
Wan Mohd Zul Ikman said that, other than financial sponsorship, the cooperation also involved the planning of a football development programme with KUFC.
He said it was the idea of Yakult Malaysia managing director, Hiroshi Hamada who had introduced the team to KDDI Malaysia.
“The selection of a Japanese player, Masashi Motoyama to strengthen the team this season was among the factors prompting the company to sponsor KUFC.
“And through this co-operation, both parties agreed to implement football programmes together,” he said.
