Melaka Sentral terminal to relocate to temporary location

27/01/2022 05:13 PM

MELAKA, Jan 27 -- The operation of the Melaka Sentral terminal will be relocated to a temporary site this year to pave the way for the mega redevelopment projects in the area.

Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB) mayor, Datuk Zainal Abu said the state government was currently waiting for the proposed temporary terminal arrangement plan at the old site of the Melaka Central Market next to the area.

“We are looking forward to getting the proposed temporary location from Melaka Sentral next month. If the location does not meet the standards, then Melaka Sentral needs to find another strategic area,” he told reporters, here, today.

Zainal said the proposed temporary relocation needed to be done immediately to optimise land use at the original location of Melaka Sentral, which is in the heart of Melaka city.

The redevelopment will consist of an integrated transport terminal, serviced apartments and shopping mall that would benefit the people and bring new revenue to Melaka Sentral due to the high property value.

On another matter, Zainal said MBMB was offering lucky draw prizes worth up to RM110,000 to city dwellers who paid their 2022 assessment rates from Jan 1 to March 31.

Among the prizes are a Peroda Bezza Premium X, two motorcycles and electrical appliances.
