Double celebration for newlyweds at UniSZA convocation

KUALA NERUS, Jan 23 -- It’s a double celebration for the couple, Izran Iskandar Rosli and Noor Syafiqah Azim Mohd Zainurin, who share the convocation stage, a day after being solemnised as newlyweds.

More significantly, Noor Syafiqah Azim, who hails from Selangor, is the recipient of the Royal Education Award, which is the highest award at the 12th Sultan Zainal Abidin University (UniSZA) Convocation Idul Ilmi Ceremony, held today.

Despite the fatigue of having to cope with wedding preparations and graduation ceremony simultaneously, Noor Syafiqah Azim and Izran Iskandar, both aged 26, were happy and excited because it was the most meaningful moment in their lives.

“After the wedding reception at about 9 last night, we packed our things and headed for Terengganu from Semenyih at about 11 pm.

“Indeed, with hardly time to catch a breather, we were exhausted, but the support from family members was enough to keep us pumped up,” she said when met after their convocation at UnisZA, here today.

Noor Syafiqah Azim is a graduate of the Bachelor of Information Technology (Media Informatics), who won the UniSZA Royal Education Award after recording excellent results with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.85.

Meanwhile, another recipient of the award, Lim Jing Ying, 24, said that the award was the impetus for her to continue her studies to the Master’s level, after obtaining a CGPA of 3.87.

Lim, after graduating with a Bachelor of Dietetics at UniSZA in February 2020, is currently studying the development of a diet mobile app for patients with protein metabolism disorders at the Master’s level, at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

“Once I complete my master’s degree, I intend to continue to the doctor of philosophy level to pursue my ambitions as a lecturer,” she said.

Noor Syafiqah and Lim each received RM7,500 in cash and a gold-plated plaque worth RM1,000.
