UniSZA Launches EDRIS Application To Support Management Of More Systematic Dialysis Treatment

KUALA NERUS, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) launched the Smart Dialysis Education, Daily Record and Reporting System (EDRIS) to support the management of dialysis treatment in a more systematic, efficient and integrated manner.

Its vice-chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Fadzli Adam said the development of EDRIS is in line with the current needs of the national healthcare system, which is now facing an increase in the number of kidney patients.

He said the use of this application is not an educational platform and storage system for keeping patient treatment records but also includes reporting functions and smart system elements that support continuous monitoring of dialysis treatment and focus on patient well-being.

"UniSZA continues to achieve another proud milestone in the field of digital health innovation with the launch of EDRIS, the first of its kind in Malaysia.

"This marks the university's success in translating academic research outcomes into practical applications that directly benefit the healthcare industry and society," he said in a statement today.

Fadzli also said via the system, patients can learn, record, and manage their health levels independently, while nurses and health professionals are tasked with monitoring and supporting patient care through continuously generated structured data.

According to him, unlike conventional digital diaries, EDRIS integrates elements of health education, self-care, clinical monitoring, and smart reporting into a single integrated platform specifically designed for haemodialysis needs.

"This approach not only empowers patients to be actively engaged in their healthcare but also enhances communication between patients and healthcare teams, and supports dialysis centres by providing more organised and accessible data.

"Furthermore, the development of EDRIS also reflects UniSZA's commitment to leading health-based digital innovation, in addition to being a clear example of how academic expertise and research outcomes can be translated into practical solutions to enhance the efficiency of health service delivery," he added.
