Own goal helps Sri Pahang FC draw 2-2 against KDA FC

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 -- Sri Pahang FC ended Kedah Darul Aman (KDA) FC's four game winning streak in the Super League, holding them to a 2-2 tie at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan, tonight.

KDA FC defender Mohd Loqman Hakim Marzuki headed the ball into his own net in the 87th minute, putting a dent in the side’s race for the runners-up position in the league.

KDA FC are in second place with 39 points from 19 matches, two points ahead of Terengganu FC (TFC) who have played 20 matches.

In the match tonight, Amirul Hisyam Awang Kechik put the visitors ahead in the 12th minute through a shot from outside the penalty box, but import striker Kenjok Wal Athiu brought the game level in the 29th minute.

Former national midfielder Mohd Syazwan Zainon put KDA FC back in front in the 67th minute, and as it looked like a victory was certain for the visiting side, Mohd Loqman headed the ball into his own net while trying to clear it from a dangerous area.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan FC put pressure on leaders Sarawak United FC in the race for the Premier League title after recording a 2-1 victory over Kuching City FC at the Pasir Gudang City Council Stadium.

Negeri Sembilan FC started strongly, scoring in the fifth minute through import player Francis Kone and retained the lead until the break.

Michael Ijezie equalised for Kuching City FC soon after the break in the 47th minute, but Negeri Sembilan FC import defender Arthur Cunha scored the team's winning goal in the 70th minute.

With two matches left to complete this season, Negeri Sembilan FC are in second place with 35 points from 18 matches, while Sarawak United FC have 37 points with three league games play.
