KOTA BHARU, July 30 -- Kelantan United (KUFC) have taken action against Gassama Alfusainey and Muhammad Asraff Alifuddin Yasin for indiscipline by ordering them to return to Kota Bharu immediately after their Premier League match in Ipoh on Wednesday.
KUFC, in a statement today, said the two players, who were given the red card for rowdy behaviour in the match against Perak FC II, would not join the team for their match against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT II) on Sunday.
"Muhammad Asraff Aifuddin was flashed the red card for punching home team player Adam Nadzmi Zamri in the 75th minute, sparking tension between the two teams.
"Gassama was involved in a quarrel with his teammate Zafuan Azeman immediately after the final whistle and the Gambian player was also given the red card by referee Mohd Sharif Tahir. KUFC will not compromise over any breach of discipline and poor sportsmanship by coaches, officials or players,” the statement said.
KUFC beat Perak FC ll 4-0, with two goals from Gassama and one each from Syahrul Azwari and Qayyum Marjoni.
KUFC said they are investigating the two incidents and will take further action if the players are found to have violated the principles of fair play.
KUFC apologised for the unprofessional actions of the two players, which have been criticised by fans.
“We promise to do our best to tackle these incidents to prevent a recurrence,” the statement added.
