KUALA LUMPUR, May 19  -- TRC Synergy Bhd is actively tendering for more than RM2 billion worth of infrastructure projects and building construction works throughout Malaysia.

Group managing director Tan Sri Sufri Mohd Zin said the company's current construction orderbook of RM1.5 billion would sustain it until 2023.

“The outstanding construction orderbook include the Pan Borneo Highway project, Mass Rapid Transit 2 and Light Rail Transit 3 projects, high-rise mixed-use and residential projects in Putrajaya, as well as the construction of Mara Junior Science College in Ranau, Sabah, among others.

“The total contract value of ongoing projects amounts to RM3.0 billion,” he said in a statement.

Sufri also emphasised that TRC aimed to replenish its pipeline projects by targeting more opportunities across the peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak.

“With more than three decades of experience and over RM9 billion worth of projects completed to date, TRC is one of the leading contractors in the country,” he said, adding that TRC was well-positioned to capture new opportunities as the country’s economy gradually recovers and construction activities picked up.

Besides the positive prospects of the construction segment, TRC also expects to register strong contributions from its property development segment in the year ahead.

He said the group’s property development division was undertaking projects worth about RM500 million in total gross development value as at March 31, 2021.

“While 2020 was a tough year for the construction industry, we were able to sustain our profitability due to the breadth and depth of our projects covering the public and private sectors, as well as our own internal development projects,” Sufri said

Going forward, he said the company planned to replenish its construction orderbook and was working towards launching more property development projects in 2021 and 2022, particularly for high-rise affordable residences in the Klang Valley where there was great demand.
