KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 -- National track cyclist Muhammad Fadhil Mohd Zonis bagged the silver medal at the International Cycling Union (UCI) Nations Cup held at the Hong Kong Velodrome, today.
The 24-year-old took second place in the men's 1km Time Trial event after clocking one minute and 1.772 seconds, 0.998s behind German Felix Grob, who won the gold with 1:00.774s.
Juan Peralta (+1.399s) of Spain took home the bronze, while another Malaysian Muhammad Ridwan Shahrom (+2.124) settled for fourth, according to the results at the UCI’s official website, https://www.uci.org.
Muhammad Fadhli, who is also the 1km Time Trial national and Asian record holder after clocking 1:00.305s at the Berlin World Championships last year, will next compete in the keirin event tomorrow and sprint on Sunday.
“This is my first international race after more than a year after the 2020 World Championships in Berlin. Had given my best and managed to get a silver medal today. Raya sacrifices racing abroad bears fruit, this is for you Malaysia,” he said in his Instagram post.
Meanwhile, in the women’s sprint event, Anis Amira Rosidi missed the quarterfinals after losing to Japan’s Sato Mina
