ARAU, Jan 1 -- A monument and two heritage houses, are the latest tourist attractions in Arau.
The monument and the houses were built by a private company, Ummul Travel Sdn Bhd, with a cost of about RM400,000.
Its managing director Rizwan Ahamad Badruddin said the monument and the two Malay traditional houses were built on the site of an old railway station owned by the Railway Assets Corporation (RAC).
“The monument was built in honour of the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, who has ruled the state for two decades,” he told reporters at the launching ceremony of the two-decade reign of the Raja of Perlis here today.
The ceremony was launched by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, and was attended by the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
