16/07/2020 09:54 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 -- The project to upgrade the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) water supply system nationwide has now achieved a work progress of 93.16 per cent compared to the target of 93.65 per cent, for 70 packages offered.

Felda, in a statement today, said that the completion of the project depended on the existing funds and based on the amount of funds channeled by the government to the agency and the shifting of the completion date to 2022.

"This shift is in line with the tabling of the progress of the project, carried out together with the Prime Minister's Department and also the Ministry of Economic Affairs, from 2016 to 2020," according to a statement issued following the Auditor General's Report (LKAN) 2018 Series 3 on Tuesday.

According to the LKAN 2018 Series 3 presented in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday, the project to upgrade the Felda water supply system nationwide was delayed for 365 days from the original completion date.

Meanwhile, the project to upgrade the Felda water supply system in Pahang was found to be 1,187 days late.

Felda explained that 99.94 per cent of the 81 packages offered under the Pahang FELDA Water Supply System Upgrade Project had been implemented.

Of the total, it said, 76 packages had been completed and handed over to the Pahang State Water Authority while the remaining five packages had been completed and undergoing testing and commissioning.

“Felda take note and accept suggestions for improvement in the LKAN report to overcome the weaknesses raised, including conducting internal investigations and taking action against the negligence of officers,’’ it said.

"We are also in the process of reviewing the monitoring of the project so that a more efficient and effective contract administration and construction management can be established," it added.
