'Star View' at Menara Alor Setar to open soon

ALOR SETAR, July 15  – People visiting Menara Alor Setar will soon be able to take in the Kedah state capital in all its glory from 105m above ground via Star View glass boxes which will soon be launched by Kedah Menteri Besar, Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

Menara Kuala Sdn Bhd chief executive officer, Ainol Shaharina Sahar, said they were inspired by the success of Menara Kuala Lumpur’s two Sky Box which extend from the Sky Deck.

“There are two glass boxes which are green and yellow -- the colours found in the Kedah state flag.

“The green Star View 1 rewards with a view of padi fields and Gunung Keriang, while the yellow Star View 2 faces iconic and historical buildings like Masjid Zahir, Balai Besar and Balai Nobat, as well as Pulau Langkawi,” she said during a media briefing today.

Each box can fit six people at a time, with each person allowed just two minutes inside.

“Actually, it can accommodate 10 people, but for safety, we only allow six. The allotted time per person may also be shortened if there are many people waiting in line,” she said.

Ainol added that since July 1, there has been a promotion for free entry to the tower's observation deck which is 88m above ground.

“The promotion which expires July 31 has received encouraging response. For the moment, there is no visitor limit, with the tower open from 10am – 10pm,” she said.
