KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22 -- Busker Khai Bahar who rose to fame through the Smule application in 2016, will be performing his first solo concert at Istana Budaya in March.
The concert, "Khai Bahar: Dari Smule ke Pentas Dunia" (Khai Bahar: From Smule to World Stage) will be held for two days beginning March 27.
Khai, whose real name is Muhammad Khairul Baharuddin and dubbed ‘King of Smule’ by his fans in the Asian region, said the concert would feature something different.
"This concert represents the other side of me that is not known to my fans, where I also sing songs in various languages," he said at a press conference here today.
The Kangar-born lad said the concert was a tribute to his involvement in the local music industry, although since only three years ago.
Khai said he would sing 20 songs, including his own compositions and hoped the concert would inspire Smule app singers to showcase their talents to the world.
“I hope to inspire new talents to go forward,” he said.
Popular for songs like ‘Luluh’ and ‘Ratuku’, Khai was selected by Istana Budaya. His concert will be produced by Ogy Ventures.
Istana Budaya director-general Datuk Mohamed Juhari Shaarani said the concert was part of efforts to promote Visit Malaysia Year 2020 (VM2020) to Khai Bahar’s fans not only in Malaysia, but also Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and other Asian countries.
"We really want to get young fans involved in VM2020 programmes like this concert and we are very confident that Khai Bahar’s international fans especially from Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and southern Thailand will come and watch this concert," he said.
Tickets for the concert will be sold starting today (Jan 22) and can be purchased from www.airasiaredtix.com
