BUTTERWORTH, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- Some 600 students have participated in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Robotics competition for the northern region here today.
The event, which was held in Dewan Sree Mariamman, has attracted students from 50 Tamil primary schools in Penang, Kedah, Perak and Perlis to showcase their knowledge and talent towards ICT and robotics.
Penang Information Technology Development Society chairman Kalitazan Gannesa said that the programme was to encourage the Tamil students in building their skills to prepare for the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0).
“We want the students to know about Industry 4.0 and to nurture their talents to prepare for the upcoming future,” he told reporters.
He said that they have plans to work on expanding their programme nationwide by next year.
“We also have plans to take our ICT and Robotics competition to the international level as we have some collaborations (from groups) in Indonesia and India,” he added.
