KUCHING, Jan 3 (Bernama) — The CityOne Megamall here which suffered a gas explosion on Dec 4 last year, promises more shops and restaurants for its customer in 2019.
Its owner Stephen Long Tine Chung said there is nothing to worry about as CityOne Megamall management’s team is trying hard to bring back the confidence of the public.
“We are trying our best to bring in more tenants after this and we are also negotiating with several mini anchor tenants and are getting very positive feedback.
“I promise you in a few months, there will be a lot of changes and improvements here as I and my team have put in a lot of effort on this matter,” he told the media after a soft reopening of CityOne Megamall, here, today.
On Dec 4, last year, CityOne Megamall was hit by a gas explosion at a new eatery which claimed three lives and injured another 26 people in the incident.
The blast was believed to have been caused by a gas leak during a welding process at the Nene Chicken restaurant which was scheduled to open the next day on Dec 5, 2018.
Meanwhile, when asked whether Nene Chicken restaurant will continue operation, Long said he loved to have that restaurant here but would see how things go.
“We will see later, we hope there will be positive outcome and we are hoping for the best,” he added.
