PARIT, Sept 8 (Bernama) -- Masjid Ar-Rahmah congregants and Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Seri Kaya teachers and students in Kampung Seri Kaya, here, can look forward to better facilities as both are being upgraded under the MADANI Adopted Village and Adopted School initiatives.

Parliament chief administrator Datuk Ahmad Husaini Abdul Rahman said the upgrading project, which commenced in June, is expected to be fully completed by the end of December at a cost of about RM1 million.

“The mosque upgrading works include the construction of an open hall, repainting the roof, ceiling repairs, electrical rewiring, upgrading of drains, and installation of solar lights at the cemetery.

“For SK Seri Kaya, the upgrading works comprise the construction of the school assembly square, a covered canteen area, and installation of air-conditioners in the school hall and resource centre,” he said during a working visit to monitor the implementation of the project today.

At the same event, Ahmad Husaini also presented contributions to 21 underprivileged students (asnaf) at SK Seri Kaya to help ease the burden of schooling expenses.

Ahmad Husaini said the upgrading works were carried out in collaboration with the Perak Public Works Department, the State Education Department, and the Seri Iskandar district Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council, as part of a whole-of-government approach to ensuring public services are delivered comprehensively and effectively.

The MADANI Adopted Village programme is a government initiative designed to bridge the development gap between urban and rural areas by providing essential facilities, including water supply, electricity, roads, streetlights, internet access, and community amenities, in selected villages, while the MADANI Adopted School initiative seeks to close the education gap between urban and rural communities.

Both programmes involve close cooperation between government agencies, educational institutions, and the private sector to provide long-term support in five key areas: infrastructure, academics, teacher training, financial assistance, and students’ character development.
