JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- The Accountant General's Department of Malaysia (JANM) has allocated RM1 million under the MADANI Adopted Village Programme to raise living standards with an upgrade of facilities in Kampung Minyak Beku near Batu Pahat.
JANM announced that the allocation will fund several projects that have been identified and which are to be implemented until December this year.
"These include building a fence for the cemetery, providing infrastructure for funeral management besides installing water pipeline facilities to 16 homes and upgrading the Balai Islam," added the statement.
JANM stated that it also held a project handover ceremony today to kick off works to upgrade the water pipeline and construction of a cemetery fence in the village, which was officiated by Accountant General Datuk Nor Yati Ahmad.
According to the statement, 16 houses that have long relied on well water will receive clean and safe piped water supply when the project is completed.
"The construction of a fence in the cemetery is to maintain cleanliness and prevent intrusion by wild animals.
"The project to upgrade the Balai (hall) Islam is to make it more comfortable to attract more villagers to participate in planned activities," he said.
JANM also handed over a new hearse to replace the aging van at Masjid Jamek Haji Arshad.
