KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Several major routes in the capital will be closed and diverted in stages in conjunction with the organisation of two events this weekend, namely the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) 2025 and the finish of the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2025 race.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the KLSCM 2025 will take place on Oct 4 and 5 involving about 40,000 participants including 3,300 international participants on the roads around the city centre.
According to him, the 5 kilometre (km) and 10km runs on Oct 4 will start at 5.30 am with road closures from 5 am to 10 am, while the 21 km and 42 km runs on Oct 5 will start at 3.30 am with road closures in stages from 3 am to 10 am.
“Among the roads involved on Oct 4 are Jalan Raja Dataran Merdeka, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Ampang towards the city centre, Jalan P. Ramlee and Jalan Kuching towards Bulatan Dato Onn,” he said in a statement today.
For the 21km and 42km events on Oct 5, the routes closed include Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Ampang, AKLEH Highway, DUKE Highway and several other main routes around the city centre.
Meanwhile, Fadil said the LTdL 2025 bicycle race which starts in Tangkak, Johor will finish the final stage in front of KLCC, Jalan Ampang on Oct 5 at about 3 pm.
“In this regard, several roads around KLCC including Jalan Ampang, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Yap Kwan Seng and Jalan P. Ramlee will be temporarily closed starting from 2 pm until the race is over,” he said.
He advised all road users to plan their journeys in advance and cooperate to ensure smooth traffic flow throughout the event.
