PORT DICKSON, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- Tudor Pro Cycling Team rider Arvid de Kleijn clinched his second stage title at Le Tour de Langkawi after winning Stage Six from Shah Alam to Port Dickson today.
The 31-year-old Dutchman powered to victory in another mass finish, completing the 123.5-kilometre (km) race in two hours, 32 minutes and 55 seconds. Norwegian Erlend Blikra of Uno X Mobility came in second, while Manuel Penalver Aniorte from Team Polti VisitMalta was third.
De Kleijn described his victory as bittersweet after his rival Matteo Malucelli of XDS Astana Team failed to finish due to an accident at 16.5km.
“First of all, I want to say it was really unfortunate that Malucelli was involved in a crash. It’s sad.
“I was looking forward to competing against him more. I hope he recovers quickly,” he said after the race.
De Kleijn’s victory today moved him up to second place in the Orange Jersey (sprint) classification with 42 points, just three points behind the leader Blikra.
The White Jersey (Best Asian Rider) remains with XDS Astana rider Nicolya Vinokuro, while the Polka Dot Jersey (King of the Mountains) stays with Patrick Eddy of Team Picnic PostNL.
Malaysia Pro Cycling rider Mohamad Izzat Hilmi Abdul Halil emerged as the Best ASEAN Rider for Stage Six.
Stage Seven of the 2.Pro status race continues tomorrow from Melaka to Medini over a 214.9km route featuring three sprint zones in Sungai Rambai, Semerah and Pontian.
