BUDI95: Public Advised To Check MyKad, Driving Licence Details – MOF

29/09/2025 05:25 PM

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- As the full implementation of the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) targeted subsidy system begins tomorrow, the government is urging the public to ensure that the information on their MyKad and driving licence is accurate to prevent any issues with eligibility.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) said an analysis with the Ministry of Transport (MoT) revealed that some driving licences still use outdated numbers, such as police, military, or old identity card numbers, which do not match the current 12-digit MyKad format.

“The public is advised to check their driving licence details and ensure that the licence is valid. Key information that needs to be verified includes the correct 12-digit MyKad number, the accuracy of the licence holder’s name, and the proper classification of the vehicle,” the statement said.

MoF emphasised that this is crucial as the details on the driving licence will be cross-checked with MyKad data, which is read by the payment terminal at petrol stations to verify subsidy eligibility. In case of discrepancies, licence holders will need to visit the Road Transport Department (JPJ) office to update their information.

To ensure smooth implementation, MoF, in collaboration with MoT, will expedite weekly data synchronisation to enable the public to enjoy the subsidised BUDI95 rate.

The statement added that the BUDI95 system remained stable on its second day of operation, which was open to recipients of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) with an active driving licence.

Almost 500,000 of the 6.1 million STR recipients, along with members of the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Royal Malaysia Police, have made BUDI95 transactions at petrol stations nationwide.

"On Sept 28, 2025, purchases worth RM22.9 million were made for 11.5 million litres of RON95 petrol at the subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre, with smooth MyKad verification at petrol stations," the statement said.

MoF also expressed appreciation to all STR recipients who have used BUDI95, adding that the system will be extended to all 16 million Malaysians with a MyKad and active driving licence starting tomorrow.

Since the launch of the BUDI95 portal on Sept 25, a total of 8.6 million users have checked their eligibility for the RON95 subsidy.

The portal now features a transaction history update option, which requires users to register and log in using MyDigital ID for added security, protecting digital identities and personal information.
