BUDI95: Selangor NRD Has Processed Over 11,000 MyKad Cases Since Early September

SHAH ALAM, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- The National Registration Department (NRD) in Selangor has processed more than 11,000 MyKad applications since the beginning of this month to ensure the public does not miss out on enjoying subsidised petrol under the BUDI95 initiative.

Selangor NRD director Muhammad Hafiz Abdul Rahim said that since the initiative was announced, applications for MyKad renewal had increased, with 850 cases involving chip issues already handled.

“Today, all processes went smoothly, and we are ready with 11 service counters, not including additional counters for chip screening at the NRD branch in Plaza Masalam, Section 9, here.

“Based on overall data for September, we have processed more than 11,000 MyKad cases covering new applications, damaged cards, replacements and lost cards throughout Selangor,” he said when met after inspecting operations at the NRD branch in Plaza Masalam here today.

He said the public need not worry as statistics showed that Selangor NRD completed nearly 99 per cent of MyKad-related transactions within the same day, except for isolated cases.

Muhammad Hafiz said most applicants who came to the NRD at Plaza Masalam could return home with their new MyKad within just 30 minutes, depending on the number of visitors.

“We try to complete every process quickly as per our policy, which sets the time limit at 30 minutes. We do not keep finished MyKad but hand them directly to the owners.

“However, applications have risen following the government’s subsidy announcement, causing a slight increase in processing time by 10 to 15 minutes,” he said.

Muhammad Hafiz said the department had also devised various methods to ease the process, particularly to reduce congestion across NRD branches.

He said the public could check the official NRD website to apply online, including booking appointments with officers on duty.

“This service is not limited to BUDI95 alone, as Selangor NRD is committed to supporting future government initiatives. For the rakyat, we are ready,” he said.

About 300,000 military and police personnel began enjoying subsidised RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre under the BUDI95 initiative from 12 am Sept 27, compared to the current price of RM2.05 per litre.

According to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who announced the move on Sept 22, the BUDI95 initiative would be rolled out in phases, with Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients starting to benefit from tomorrow.

Meanwhile, all Malaysians aged 16 and above who hold a MyKad and an active driving licence will begin to enjoy BUDI95 from Sept 30.

Through the initiative, Malaysians are eligible to purchase up to 300 litres of RON95 petrol per month at RM1.99 per litre.
