Tengku Amir Shah was greeted on arrival at 5 pm by LZS deputy chairman Tan Sri Ambrin Buang, LZS chief executive officer Mohd Khaidzir Shahari, Selangor deputy Mufti Datuk Dr Miszairi Sitiris and chairman of the Raja Muda of Selangor Foundation (YRMS) Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda.

Among the companies are Dherbs Holdings Sdn Bhd, which handed over RM900,000 in business zakat, XpertsCo Sdn Bhd (RM624,161.30), Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Berhad (RM599,160.82), Advanced Air Traffic Systems (M) Sdn Bhd (RM550,000), Bawal Sdn Bhd (RM500,000) and Public Islamic Bank Berhad (RM400,000).

At the same event, Worldwide Holdings Berhad also handed over zakat wakalah fund worth RM200,000 to be channelled to welfare, education and youth development programmes managed by YRMS.

Earlier, Mohd Khaidzir, during the high tea event with the Raja Muda of Selangor, said LZS is confident of achieving its total zakat collection target of RM1.328 billion for this year, including RM205 million from business zakat.

He said that, so far, LZS has received business zakat from over 8,500 companies, entrepreneurs and traders, with a total collection of over RM117 million, which reflects the positive development of increasing corporate awareness among entrepreneurs.

"Zakat Selangor is governed professionally, and its proof can be seen now that we have increased the collection of zakat in the state from RM15.9 million in 1995 to RM1.22 billion in 2024.

"At the same time, the distribution of zakat rose from RM16.3 million in 1995 to RM1.19 billion in 2024. This impressive performance (in collection and distribution) is equivalent to an average annual increase of 17 per cent,” he said.

Mohd Khaidzir said LZS has continued to be successful when it emerged as the first zakat institution in Malaysia to distribute zakat worth over RM1 billion.

"Our success and capability in managing zakat for over 30 years in this state are due to the trust of all zakat payers, including all of you here in front of me today,” he said.

He also urged companies and individuals who have yet to fulfil the third pillar of Islam to do so, especially the business zakat, for the benefit of over 78,000 asnaf families.
