Kedah PMR 2025: Public Can Exchange Copies Of Quran At KDN Booth

BALING, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- Members of the public can obtain a new copy of the Quran at the Home Ministry (KDN) booth at the ongoing Kedah edition of the MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) until tomorrow.

Home Ministry Enforcement and Control Division assistant enforcement officer Hamidah Ahmad said the ‘Jom Exchange Al-Quran’ (JEQ) programme allows the public to exchange damaged or worn-out copies of the Quran for new copies bearing the ministry’s certificate, free of charge.

She said that so far, the response from visitors to the Kedah PMR has been very encouraging, with almost 200 new copies of the Quran handed over to attendees at the booth.

“However, we have received more than 500 old and worn-out copies brought by the public. The damaged copies will be disposed of according to established procedures,” she said.

She said this to Bernama on the second day of the three-day Kedah PMR 2025, which runs from Sept 4 to 6, at the Baling District Council Sports Complex here.

Hamidah said that the ministry had previously made announcements through various media platforms and warmly invited the public, especially district residents, to visit the booth.

She added that, apart from the Quran exchange programme, the Home Ministry Enforcement and Control booth also displayed publications deemed harmful or potentially harmful to public ethics.

A visitor, Muhammad Yusof Md Muhyiddin, 27, from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, said the Home Ministry booth was very useful, as it not only facilitated the proper disposal of the Quran but also provided information on publications containing inaccurate or misleading content.

“The information provided at the Home Ministry booth made me aware of the existence of offensive publications, some of which are harmful, such as containing inaccurate content about Islam, and it serves as a guide for me,” he said.
