Proposal To Include #QuranHour In Tourism Calendar To Be Brought To Cabinet - Ahmad Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- The proposal to include the Malaysia #QuranHour programme in the national tourism calendar will be brought to the Cabinet, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said the suggestion by Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF), the organiser of #QuranHour, is in line with the government’s aspiration to further develop religion-based tourism, adding that he is confident there will be no major obstacles to its implementation.

“Alhamdulillah, #QuranHour has entered its 11th edition, and the organiser has proposed that it be listed in the national tourism calendar.

“This is part of Islamic tourism that we will continue to promote, alongside other events in conjunction with Maulidur Rasul and other important Islamic occasions,” he told reporters after attending the Malaysia #QuranHour 2025 themed ‘Merdeka Dengan Rasa’ at the National Mosque here today.

The programme, held in conjunction with the 68th National Day celebration, was also attended by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar and National Mosque imam Ustaz Hassan Al-Fadhli Abdul Rahman.

Commenting on the theme ‘Merdeka Dengan Rasa’, Ahmad Zahid stressed that independence is a shared heritage that transcends political, cultural, ethnic or religious differences.

“Independence belongs to all Malaysians. We must not allow political, cultural, racial or religious differences to stand in the way of celebrating it,” he said.
