KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has ordered all mosques and surau in Johor to hold special prayers, the “solat hajat” and “doa selamat”, following several tremors that hit Segamat since last Aug 24.
According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's Facebook page, His Majesty called for the prayers to be held to seek Allah SWT’s protection over the people, safeguarding them from misfortune and disaster in the wake of the tremors.
“His Majesty and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, also pray that the state of Johor and all Malaysians will always be blessed with peace, safety, and protection from any calamity,” the post read.
Within eight days, four earthquakes have been recorded in Segamat, with the first at 6.13 am last Sunday (Aug 24), measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale, followed by Wednesday at 8.59 am, measuring 3.2, at 7.56 pm on Thursday (2.5) and at 4.24 am yesterday (3.4).
The latest tremor was reported at 7.29 am today, measuring 2.7 on the Richter scale.
