30/08/2025 05:42 PM

KLUANG, Aug 30 (Bernama) — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) remains on alert for any potential disasters, including the recent seismic activity and aftershocks in Segamat.

KTMB Southern Region Senior Manager Salim Misdi said the company has dedicated disaster officers tasked with monitoring conditions and assessing risks at every operational site.

“In the Segamat area, KTMB operates a station and a feeder station that are closely monitored. In the event of any unforeseen incident, passengers will be notified in advance of any station closures, cancellations or travel delays,” he told Bernama when met at the Kluang railway station today.

He said the trained officers are capable of taking immediate and appropriate action to ensure passenger safety and uninterrupted operations.

Salim said KTMB services have not been affected so far, and the Segamat station remains safe, although the company will continue to refer to the relevant authorities for updates on the earthquake situation.

Segamat has recently been hit by a series of mild earthquakes, with tremors reported around the district, prompting heightened monitoring by the authorities.
