Selangor To Extend RM200 Book Voucher To Form Six Students

SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- The Selangor government will extend the RM200 book voucher to Form Six students, with distribution expected before the end of this year.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the Kita Selangor book voucher is an extension of the previous scheme, which was initially available only to university-bound students born in the state.

“We will assess the number of students eligible for the voucher based on data from the Selangor State Education Department (JPN)..

“Although there has been considerable demand, the voucher was previously given only to Selangor students through the Selangor Students Association. For Form Six students, we plan to distribute the vouchers before the year ends, or by October at the latest,” he added.

Amirudin said this to reporters after a ceremony to present the 2025 Sixth Form First Semester School Aid (BAP) at Shah Alam. Also present was Education Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hassim.

A total of RM894,750 in BAP will be allocated to 5,965 Form Six students across Pre-University Colleges and Centres in Selangor.

Amirudin also said that this year’s book voucher allocation was RM400,000, and the amount would be increased and included in the 2026 Selangor Budget.

He added that this expansion will help ease the financial burden on Form Six students, allowing them to purchase additional reading materials in preparation for university.

“Education remains a top priority for the state government, and this commitment will be reflected in the largest financial allocation in next year’s budget,” he said.

Earlier, Amirudin also presented RM1,000 contributions to 15 top 2024 Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) students from Selangor.
