Perak Aims To Focus On Tvet In Culinary Arts To Boost State Economy - Saarani

IPOH, June 27 (Bernama) -- The Perak government aims to strengthen its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) not only in the technical field but also culinary arts that promises good incomes to locals.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the role of TVET in the culinary industry is growing even more vital as cooking is not seen as a technical skill but a form of art and innovation with high economic value.

“Incidentally, we in Perak are launching large-scale TVET programmes, one of them being culinary… I always said not to look down on the culinary arts as its proven that chefs generate good incomes and are respected.

“As we know there are many cooking programmes on television and Malaysians love the Master Chef show and today we have brought the Malaysia Culinary World Cup 2025 (MCWC 2025) to Perak,” he said after launching the event here today, where 800 participants from Malaysia and 16 other countries compete in 65 categories.

He also pointed out that Perak was not just a location but prepared an organised skill training ecosystem through a competitive and wide TVET hub.

Meanwhile, Saarani said that the state government would continue to aggressively promote Visit Malaysia 2026 as the state aims to exceed the number of tourists in attracted this year.
