TUMPAT, June 27 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) has expressed its appreciation for the continued support of arts and heritage associations, in the annual implementation of programmes under the Cultural Sector Support Grant (GSSK) initiative.
MOTAC secretary-general Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot said that, in an effort to stimulate arts and cultural activities nationwide, the ministry is committed to supporting arts, culture, and heritage-based associations by covering part of their event organisation costs through the GSSK initiative.
“Hence, I sincerely hope that arts, culture, and heritage associations will continue to support the ministry’s efforts in promoting the national arts and culture agenda, outlined under the National Cultural Policy.
“As we all know, next year marks Visit Malaysia 2026. Therefore, I urge all parties to collaborate with MOTAC to ensure its success,” he said at the opening of the state’s Citrawarna Siam Malaysia Festival 2025, at Wat Machimmaram here tonight.
According to him, Malaysians of all races and backgrounds should embrace arts and culture as a unifying asset, which strengthens national harmony and fosters mutual understanding.
“Therefore, let's work together to safeguard these assets, as part of our cultural heritage which must be preserved,” he said.
He also urged all parties to uphold local arts and culture with pride, enthusiasm, and a deep appreciation for the nation’s artistic heritage.
