No Compromise With Outside Parties Causing Provocation In Kampung Sungai Baru -- Dr Zaliha

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- The government will not compromise with outside parties causing provocation that results in chaos and disrupts the process of vacating terrace houses in Kampung Sungai Baru, Kuala Lumpur.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said she was greatly disappointed by the commotion that led to Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman being injured as it was a result of intervention by outside parties trying to influence residents to reject the redevelopment project there.

“Actually, yesterday I expressed my disappointment and regret over what occurred. I also was informed of the truth, what happened yesterday was done by non-residents.

“This is very disturbing. That’s why we need to understand, I know who they really are. And I assume there are those out there who wish to take advantage of this issue, I won’t give them the chance to do it,” she said at a special media conference here today.

She said that the government wanted to ensure the eviction carried out according to the court order was done properly without any outside disturbance that could disrupt public order and urged those who disagreed to channel their objections through proper channels.

“If there is dissatisfaction over compensation, there are court processes they can use. Not by causing provocations or asking others to demonstrate,” she said as she expressed her disappointment over the statements of some parties that compared the commotion with conflicts abroad.

“I think it’s unnecessary to equate what happened with other countries like Indonesia and Nepal. Why do we want our country to be in turmoil?

"I won’t let anyone take advantage of this issue. We work hard to ensure peace in the country, so we need to reject such things,” Zaliha added.
