TELUK INTAN, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- The Perak Craft Festival (FKP) 2025, currently underway at Dataran Menara Condong Teluk Intan, is targeting sales of RM1.4 million.

Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) secretary-general Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot said the target is achievable, given that last year’s festival recorded sales of RM1.12 million.

He said to further enhance this year’s festival, Kraftangan Malaysia is focusing on business matching activities, involving meetings between craft entrepreneurs and craft export companies, government agencies, hospitality firms, and shopping malls.

“These activities will create opportunities for cooperation between craft entrepreneurs and potential buyers, helping to expand markets, increase sales, and strategically strengthen business networks,’ he said at a press conference following a walkabout at the festival venue here today.

Also present was the director-general of the Kraftangan Malaysia Datuk Ainu Sham Ramli.

Shaharuddin said the ongoing festival, running from Aug 28 to Sept 7, aims to attract 110,000 visitors and features 55 craft entrepreneurs showcasing a variety of products, including textiles and items made from forest resources, soil, and metal.

He added that the festival hosts a range of activities, including exhibitions of new craft products in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026, as well as displays highlighting state identity motifs.

According to him, knowledge-development programmes are also being held, such as interactive craft sessions, craft expressions, and fun craft activities, alongside visitor engagement events like street soccer competitions, arm wrestling, and Merdeka collages.
