KOTA KINABALU, Nov 27 -- The Sabah government has thus far distributed 240,383 food baskets to the target groups statewide during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), said its Community Development and People’s Well-being Minister Shahelmey Yahya.
He said that the food baskets were distributed in Lahad Datu, Semporna, Kunak, Tawau, Sandakan, Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Putatan, Papar, Tuaran, Kalabakan, Ranau, Tambunan, Kota Belud and Beaufort.
The distribution also involved Kuala Penyu, Kota Marudu, Tenom, Kinabatangan, Keningau, Kudat, Pitas, Sipitang, Nabawan, Beluran, Telupid and Tongod.
For today, 5,015 food baskets were handed over to 21 districts and out of the total, 1,655 baskets were distributed in Kota Marudu, followed by Ranau (570), Kota Kinabalu (542), Pitas (356), Semporna (340), Kudat (295), Tenom (290), Tongod (179) and Tawau (156).
114 food baskets were distributed in Kinabatangan, Kuala Penyu (106), Tuaran (97), Kunak (91), Putatan (46), Penampang (37), Nabawan (36), Beluran (35), Sandakan (28), Papar (26), Telupid (11) and Tambunan (five), he said.
Meanwhile, Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said that the state Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has 241 vehicles ready to be used for COVID-19 logistic assistance.
Of the total, 43 vehicles were used to ferry COVID-19 patients, while 28 others used to send food baskets to the targeted locations and the remaining 170 various types of vehicles were ready to be mobilised if needed, said Masidi, who is also the state government spokesperson for COVID-19.
