IPOH, March 30 (Bernama) -- Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming has called on all Malaysians to stand united and reject any forms of racial discord, stressing that unity, harmony and mutual respect remain the foundation of the nation’s strength, especially in times of crisis.
Nga, who is also DAP deputy national chairman and Perak DAP chairman, emphasised that as the world is in crisis, it is incumbent for every Malaysian to have a new resolve, which is to stand united as one nation and overcome the crisis together.
He also urged every Malaysian to support the government’s efforts under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership in reducing the people’s burden, to act responsibly, exercise restraint and refrain from amplifying negative sentiments that could undermine national unity and economic development.
“Despite the fact that some neighbouring countries have declared an energy emergency, Malaysians still enjoy one of the lowest petrol prices in the world, and the government is implementing various proactive initiatives to manage the situation.
“Malaysia’s unity in diversity is our greatest asset. Therefore, we must not allow any irresponsible narratives to erode the trust and understanding that generations of Malaysians have worked hard to build,” he said in his speech during the Perak DAP 2026 Hari Raya Aidilfitri dinner with Perak media last night.
Nga also emphasised that Perak is on the right track under the unity government, which saw the state government record a surplus budget for four consecutive years.
It recorded the highest investment of RM15.67 billion, and tourism in Perak is also performing well, with Visit Perak Year 2025 receiving more than 10.1 million domestic and foreign tourists.
He added that every Malaysian has an important role to play in preserving harmony and safeguarding the country’s unique diversity.
Nga also noted that unity is a shared responsibility that must be upheld by all Malaysians to safeguard the nation’s peace, stability and future.
“One nation, one vision and one dream, we shall overcome (any problems). One must realise that without shared responsibility, there is no shared prosperity,” he said.
