IPOH, July 10 (Bernama) -- The Perak government is enhancing its policy on the development of religious education institutions through the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Plan by prioritising the strengthening of social institutions under the Social Well-Being pillar.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the three focus areas identified are ensuring the development of institutions are safe and well-planned, enhancing administrative understanding of governance and legal compliance, as well as improving government service delivery in a people-friendly and efficient manner.
“When we speak of integrity in the context of religious education institutions, we must not limit it to the issue of corruption alone. Integrity encompasses honesty in carrying out responsibilities, transparency in the management of funds and waqf (endowments), efficiency in administration, and compliance with all regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of the institution’s community,” he said.
He said this during the opening of the Seminar on Sustainable Integrity in Religious Education Institution Development and the closing of the Certified Integrity Officer (CeIO) programme for the public sector, held here today.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy chief commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Azmi Kamaruzaman said 44 participants took part in the CeIO programme, which was conducted from April 20 to July 10.
Azmi said apart from attending lectures, participants also carried out the Enhancing Integrity Project (EIP) and SKI, both of which are mandatory components for certification by the Certified Integrity Officer Accreditation Board (LPPIB).
“This year’s EIP was conducted on July 5 in Selama, Perak, focusing on issues of non-compliance with safety specifications and design standards in the construction of Sekolah Agama Rakyat and Maahad Tahfiz, which may endanger students and harm the image of religious education institutions,” he said.
